Evil in its Purest Form

There is no other way to describe this
US soldiers, accused of raping and murdering a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, drank alcohol and hit golf balls before the attack. One of them grilled chicken wings afterwards, a criminal investigator told a US military hearing yesterday.

Benjamin Bierce interviewed one of the accused, Specialist James Barker who made a written statement in which he recorded graphic and brutal sexual details of the alleged assault on March 12.

Mr Bierce was testifying on the second day of the hearing to determine whether five soldiers must stand trial for the rape and killing of Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, her parents and five-year-old sister in the town of Mahmudiya.

This story has haunted me ever since I learned about it over a month ago. There is no excuse for this type of atrocious behavior. None. Yet, there are still deluded and denial-riddled Americans who would chalk this up to being an "unfortunate incident" in the fog of war. Even if that ridiculous supposition were true, the callousness of the perpetrators and their lawyer is revolting
Defense Attorney Captain Jimmie Culp was blowing chewing gum bubbles while Yribe, sitting to his left, began sucking on a red lollipop during the testimony.

Think about that. As the disgusting details of this incident were being spelled out for the military court, these guys were acting like little children. Fortunately for them, they will get the opportunity to celebrate their next birthdays, which is something young Abeer Qassim al-Janabi won't be able to do on August 19th (she would've been 15). Instead, her body lays in the earth, charred and defiled from the idiocy of the actions of these soldiers.

George Bush and his band of warmongering thugs calls this "Freedom on the March", I bet this young boy would beg to differ.

He is the brother of Abeer who has to live the rest of his life knowing that his two sisters, mother and father were murdered by U.S. troops. If it were me, Riverbend's words would only be a mere introduction to the wrath I would be feeling.
Rape. The latest of American atrocities. Though it's not really the latest- it's just the one that's being publicized the most. The poor girl Abeer was neither the first to be raped by American troops, nor will she be the last. The only reason this rape was brought to light and publicized is that her whole immediate family were killed along with her. Rape is a taboo subject in Iraq. Families don't report rapes here, they avenge them. We've been hearing whisperings about rapes in American-controlled prisons and during sieges of towns like Haditha and Samarra for the last three years. The naiveté of Americans who can't believe their 'heroes' are committing such atrocities is ridiculous. Who ever heard of an occupying army committing rape??? You raped the country, why not the people?
End the occupation now!!!
